Nestled in the vibrant Montrose neighborhood of Houston, Campesino Coffee offers a truly authentic and cozy coffee shop experience that beautifully celebrates Mexican-inspired flavors alongside classic café staples. Located at 2602 Waugh Dr, this charming spot is a haven for coffee aficionados and food lovers seeking more than just a caffeine fix.
The heart of Campesino Coffee lies in its uniquely rich and warming Café De Olla, a traditional Mexican brew infused with ground coffee, cinnamon, and piloncillo, simmered in earthen clay pots to craft a deeply aromatic and indulgent cup. For those who favor bold espressos, the Café Cubano and creamy Cortadito Cubano provide a perfect balance of strong coffee and velvety steamed milk, delivering nuanced sweetness and intensity in every sip. Fans of iced drinks will find the Iced Horchata Latte and refreshing Café Con Leche with oat milk irresistible, blending cool creaminess with subtle spice and coffee richness.
Pair your beverage with delicious, savory treats influenced by traditional Latin cuisine. The Choripan Argentine sandwich, featuring a bolillo roll filled with Italian sausage and vibrant chimichurri sauce, bursts with smoky and herby notes that linger delightfully on the palate. The open-faced Molletes offer comforting layers of refried beans, melted cheese, and fresh pico de gallo, while the Pork Tamale and Black Bean Pisques Tamales bring tender texture and earthy flavors to the table. For a lighter crunch, the house-made Plantain Chips and Banana Chips serve as perfect bites alongside a cold Coco Water or the rich Champurrado, a traditional Mexican hot chocolate thickened with masa.
Stepping inside Campesino Coffee, visitors are instantly enveloped by its warm, inviting atmosphere — a lovingly converted house that feels more like a friend’s living room than a bustling café. Multiple cozy rooms adorned with plush couches and a welcoming fireplace encourage lingering conversations or peaceful moments of remote work. The attentive and personable staff add an extra layer of charm through genuine smiles and thoughtful service; many customers return not only for the coffee but for the sense of community that Campesino fosters.

Today I traveled to Campesino Coffee for the first time after I left FLATS Film lab down the road. I come from Kemah, Texas so I decided to try somewhere in Houston for my coffee fix and Campesino Coffee seemed cozy. To my suprise I was greeted by a friendly customer, and they have parking that wasn’t on the street available. As I approached inside it was more cozy of an environment than I expected. I loved the glassware for the hot & cold drinks. They definitely go with the aesthetic that the owner is achieving. I also love how traditional their menu is to a different culture. It’s different which is nice. I had the Horchata Latte w/ Horchata oat milk and it was lovely. Not to sweet and not to strong. I also had their tamales but they weren’t my cup of tea. I wanted to try something new. It’s nothing on there end! Last but not least they have a nice outdoor area with shading, and nice seats that are comfortable. Including plants. I just wish the plants were more lively not dead haha. All in all 10/10 a great experience with lovely coffee.
Visited this place twice while visiting Houston. The coffee is amazing and it's cozy inside. First time we got the Maya Mocha which had a satisfying spice to it. Second visit we got the café de olla and Campesino café con leche with oat milk. I'm going to be daydreaming about this place.
Loved this place. We are traveling from Louisiana for a concert and found this shop. It's super chill and comfy. The coffee was amazing.
We loved the vibe of this place, friendly faces, great service lovey presentation. We ordered cafe olla (Mexican cinnamon sugar coffee) which was phenomenal. It's a very cozy place a house converted into coffee shop with fireplace and comfy couches and different rooms. Must visit.
One of my favorite coffee places in HTX. I recommend this place to everyone. I work remote with my job sometimes so this is a great place to come to catch up on work and sip a coffee. The staff are always nice and some of them even know my order! Also, their prices are super great compared to practically any other cafe in the area. Parking may be tricky for some, but I typically street park in the neighborhood and walk because who doesn’t need a few extra steps!
Got pumpkin lattes with oat milk, was so tasty! Very quirky place, my friend had the yucca fries w/ bean tamale. Looked tasty will try that next visit. Overall atmosphere of cafe is chill and quirky and homey. Very comfy. Bring earplugs or headphones if you wanna focus or study. Would come again!
